About

Stop! If you’re on this page to read about who we are, then it’s worth reading … well, the entire site. Specifically The Plan, The Result, and the In Depth Pages.

The Vancouver Project is a plan for a multimedia production with a ‘behind the scenes’ and real-time web approach. The final product will be a single multimedia production that covers the Vancouver Olympics from unique perspectives. It will be constructed from individual stories, broken into chapters which share unique, untold and behind the scenes perspectives on the games.

Chapters are built around the different perspectives of people involved with the Olympics: athletes, press members, employees, local citizens and general audience members as they experience the Olympics. This differs from the standard TV presentation, which simply gives the viewer the perspective of the general audience.

The entire production process will be blogged and tweeted so that the audience can both witness and participate in the construction of the piece. We believe this will be a first – pulling ideas from numerous websites and building off multimedia platforms established by other multimedia groups.

The team would be made up of approximately 15 multimedia journalists with a special focus on photojournalism and ‘new media.’ As ‘new media’ savvy individuals, (ie: blog, twitter active), it’s their passion for the project that will carry it through.

This project is currently a proposal and we’re looking for media businesses to partner with. With an estimated budget requirement of $400,000, the content, production, budget and final product are all available to be changed, manipulated and adapted as necessary. Furthermore, monetization plans can be built around sponsors, advertisements, premium content purchases, grants, partnerships, and donations.
